Registration / GUIDE

Your registered copy has arrived. Give it a careful look.

Check the document while the transaction is still fresh, rather than discovering missing pages later.

Confirm you received the complete document, including the schedules, attachments and registration pages. Compare the key details with the version you approved.

Check the whole copy, not just the first page

A file can open normally and still be missing a page or have an unreadable number. Review the names, property details and sequence of pages. Keep the payment and registration acknowledgements with it. If you notice a difference from the signed draft, record it clearly and ask about it. Editing the PDF yourself will not correct the registered record.

Compare the copy with the approved draft

Look for all pages, schedules, annexures and registration details. Then compare the names, amounts and property description with the version you approved. Save the downloaded file without editing it. If you spot something, note the page and entry and ask how it should be addressed. Do not quietly correct your personal copy and assume the official record has changed.

Before the appointment

  • Compare party names and property identifiers.
  • Check page sequence and referenced annexures.
  • Retain registration and payment acknowledgements.
  • Record where the original is kept and who can access it.

The next step

Save a secure backup and note who holds the original. Raise any discrepancy with the person handling the transaction while the details are easy to trace.

Does checking the copy mean I have verified the title?

No. This is a record-completeness step. Title and transaction questions require the relevant professional review.
