Record each payment’s amount, date, method, recipient and purpose. Check that the payment wording in the deed reflects the arrangements reviewed for your transaction.
Make the numbers easy to reconcile
An advance, a lender payment and a balance payment can arrive at different times. Keep their references together and note anything still pending. If funds are going somewhere other than the seller’s own account, raise that for advice rather than treating it as an administrative detail. Avoid relying on a forwarded screenshot as the only explanation of a payment arrangement.
Make a simple payment list
Record the date, amount, payer, recipient and reference for each payment already made. Keep government receipts separate from money paid to the seller and fees paid for assistance. Share the list with the drafter where it is needed to prepare the deed. A total in a chat message is much harder to check than a list tied to receipts.
Before the appointment
- Compare payment references with the proposed draft.
- Retain official payment acknowledgements.
- Keep the service invoice separate from government receipts.
- Flag any last-minute change in beneficiary or payment instructions.
The next step
Review the payment plan with the people advising you before the day. Keep the final instructions and acknowledgements with the registered document.
Can the website calculate my tax obligation?
No. This guide does not calculate tax. Residency, transaction details and current rules require a qualified adviser’s assessment.
